Most important positive things to say to kids

It’s really hard to count how many times per day I say to my son  ‘I love you’. I can’t imagine ending my day without saying it. I bet most parents can relate to it. We all want to make sure that our kids know how important they are. There are so many positive things we can tell them but we often forget about it.

We want our children to be responsible, independent and self-motivated. But it’s not so easy and you can’t expect it will happen like that.

You can’t just demand and nag your children to change their behaviour. You need to be kind to them, you need to learn how to speak to your children. Positive interaction between parents and kids is key.

So as today is World Kindness Day I prepared 30 positive things to say to kids that can help you to keep a strong bond with your kids. Make them feel unique. Obviously, there are more phrases you are welcome to use. I just wanted to choose those which are in my opinion the most important.

  1. You are a good kid
  2. You inspire me
  3. You are so brave
  4. I love spending time with you
  5. I’m proud of you
  6. I’m grateful for you
  7. I will always love you
  8. You are loved
  9. You are important
  10. You don’t have to be perfect
  11. I love being your mom
  12. It’s OK to make mistakes
  13. It’s OK to be scared
  14. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else
  15. I trust you
  16. You have a choice
  17. You are helpful
  18. I know you did your best
  19. You make my heart full
  20. You are smart
  21. I’m here for you
  22. I’m listening
  23. Never give up
  24. Be yourself
  25. It’s good to have your own opinion
  26. It’s OK to change your mind
  27. Anything is possible
  28. Keep dreaming big
  29. You have time-there is no rush
  30. You are still growing and learning

positive things to say to kids

I hope all those phrases will help your child become more confident and build their self-esteem. Don’t forget that today is a special day, as I mentioned before, World Kindness Day. There is no better way to celebrate it than being good and kind to others.

Be kind, don’t judge, and have respect for others. If we can all do this, the world would be a better place. The point is to teach this to the next generation.

I have recently decided to make a conscious effort to do this. I told my son I am proud of him tonight before bed. He said for what. I said nothing specific, I am just proud. It did put a smile on his face.

Positivity and communication is the most important thing for a child to motivate him and push him to be so with himself and others.

Oh, these are so great. Everyone should remember these positive things. It would be nice if they were written all over in kindergartens.

I try to say a lot of these daily. I always want them to hear kind things. They are older so sometimes they roll their eyes, but still.

It’s amazing the impact that words have in a child’s life. I totally agree with your post. I loved the list of positive things to tell them. Specially the one that says “it’s okay to make mistakes”.

Always better to say positive reinforcement to kids rather than negative as they remember and it can affect them in the future

This is a great post – I can relate to this so much!
It’s so heartbreaking to see your child upset but when you do use positive words or phrases, you can see how their faces change and really start to hear what you’re saying. Wouldn’t you agree?
