Most important positive things to say to kids
It’s really hard to count how many times per day I say to my son ‘I love you’. I can’t imagine ending my day without saying it. I bet most parents can relate to it. We all want to make sure that our kids know how important they are. There are so many positive things we can tell them but we often forget about it.
We want our children to be responsible, independent and self-motivated. But it’s not so easy and you can’t expect it will happen like that.
You can’t just demand and nag your children to change their behaviour. You need to be kind to them, you need to learn how to speak to your children. Positive interaction between parents and kids is key.
So as today is World Kindness Day I prepared 30 positive things to say to kids that can help you to keep a strong bond with your kids. Make them feel unique. Obviously, there are more phrases you are welcome to use. I just wanted to choose those which are in my opinion the most important.
- You are a good kid
- You inspire me
- You are so brave
- I love spending time with you
- I’m proud of you
- I’m grateful for you
- I will always love you
- You are loved
- You are important
- You don’t have to be perfect
- I love being your mom
- It’s OK to make mistakes
- It’s OK to be scared
- Don’t compare yourself to anyone else
- I trust you
- You have a choice
- You are helpful
- I know you did your best
- You make my heart full
- You are smart
- I’m here for you
- I’m listening
- Never give up
- Be yourself
- It’s good to have your own opinion
- It’s OK to change your mind
- Anything is possible
- Keep dreaming big
- You have time-there is no rush
- You are still growing and learning
I hope all those phrases will help your child become more confident and build their self-esteem. Don’t forget that today is a special day, as I mentioned before, World Kindness Day. There is no better way to celebrate it than being good and kind to others.
Be kind, don’t judge, and have respect for others. If we can all do this, the world would be a better place. The point is to teach this to the next generation.

I have recently decided to make a conscious effort to do this. I told my son I am proud of him tonight before bed. He said for what. I said nothing specific, I am just proud. It did put a smile on his face.
