It’s every little girl’s dream to become a Disney princess
When I was a little girl I always admire those beautiful Disney princesses. I wanted to be like them. Lovely voices, hair, dresses and a handsome prince. But there is something more than only a nice appearance. All Disney Princesses teach girls about strength, love, power, and how to follow your dreams. They show young girls that if they listen to their hearts and stay true to themselves, anything is possible.
Not only princesses
Nowadays Disney is showing that women, in general, are strong and independent. They are brave and smart. They can be whoever they want.
And I need to say all those Disney women are an inspiration. I’m sure most of the little girls would be proud to have a name after a princess or any empowering woman. So I decided to introduce you some beautiful names inspired by Disney of course.
My favourite ’13’
Aurora – Sleeping Beauty- In Roman mythology, Aurora was the goddess whose tears turned into the morning dew. Aurora means ‘dawn’.
Leah – Queen, and mother of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. I need to say I really like that name.
Belle – The Disney Princess from Beauty & the Beast. She teaches young girls to never judge a book by its cover and to accept people for their differences. Every girl would be proud to have that name:)
Alice – is the imaginative and curious protagonist of Lewis Carroll’s adaptation “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. Alice is the short form of the French name Adelais. The name Alice, meaning ‘noble’. It was our first choice if we would have a girl.
Ariel– A Little Mermaid-The name Ariel is a variation of the French name Arielle. Shakespeare used the name Ariel for the spirit in “Tempest”. Ariel means ‘lion of God’.
Colette is the female chef from the film “Ratatouille”. She is tough and strict on the outside but gentle and soft on the inside. Colette is the short form of Nicollet and means ‘people of victory’.
Elsa -is a shortened version of Elizabeth and means ‘oath of God’. And probably after a movie, it’s quite a common name.
Esmeralda, -The Hunchback of Notre Dame- Esmeralda means ‘gemstone’.
Kiara, the name of Simba and Nala’s daughter in “The Lion King”. This Irish name, meaning ‘dark’, would make an excellent alternative to the more common Keira.
Lilo –Lilo and Stitch- This short and energetic name, familiar in Hebrew, German, and Hawaiian cultures. Lilo means ‘generous one’.
Wendy -one of the famous characters from Peter Pan – the gentle and caring sister of Peter Pan who seeks out on an adventure with her brother.
Jasmine– Aladdin- is fierce, confident, and not afraid to speak up for herself. Jasmine teaches girls to stand up for themselves and to never settle for anything less than someone who truly loves them.
Mulan – girls admired her because of her strength and courage. She fought for her country and showed that girls can change the world. She thought us that we must always stand for what we believe in.
There is a lot of names inspired by Disney. But I chose my ‘lucky 13’. I love those names and I would not hesitate to choose one if I would have a baby girl. I hope it will be an inspiration for you if you struggle to pick the perfect name for your little princess. Let me know what do you think about those names.
